Albums
Toto's discography consists of 13 studio albums and 4 live albums. There are also compilations. In addition to the release of original music, Toto has also done collaborations with other artists as well as on soundtracks for films. The band has won multiple Grammy Awards for their work.
Before Toto was formed The members of the band played sessions for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session percussionist Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs album from 1975 Silk Degrees. The collaboration led to the formation of Toto in 1976.
Turn Back, Toto's third studio album was criticized by critics due to the absence of hit singles. In 1985 the group's singer Fergie Fredericksen resigned The band held auditions to choose a new frontman. The band selected guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in 1986.
Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to mark the 20th anniversary of the band. The group went through old recordings and tapes to create the special record. The album was a hit by fans, and the band embarked on a tour featuring former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
Shem Von Schröck replaced Leland Sklar as drummer during the tour in support of the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In the year 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included tour recordings as well as an interview with the group.
